Myrtle Beach '08

We had such a great time at the beach last week. It took us about 14 hours to travel each way, but it was worth it. We spent a relaxing week with our family and made some wonderful memories. It was even better because Aunt Jennie, Sharon, Paul and Sarah drove from WV to be there for the week. Besides hanging out on the beach every day, there were some firsts. Jack played his first round of miniature golf, Carolyn had her first teppanyaki table experience, Charlotte loved her first time in the ocean, and Noah learned to roll over. Rich got his annual Five Guys fix, and I got my annual Krispy Kreme. I love my parents and treasure the precious time we get to spend together as a family. It is hard to believe that we have been going to the same beach since Carolyn and I were babies. Now my parents are the grandparents and the tradition continues.

Daddy's Home!

This is the typical scene when Rich gets home from work every evening. It is a little overwhelming for him, since all he wants to do is sit down on the couch and relax for a while, but the kids jump all over him. Charlotte starts to clap and Jack asks him to play trains, soccer, ride bikes, and make towers all at once. I guess he's doing something right if they are this excited to see him!


Or maybe they are just relieved that they don't have to be stuck with me anymore. I am kind of crazy these days.

September Already?!

It has been way too long since our last post. Sorry to all of our fans out there. We have been slackers, and this summer has been too long. Since the temp is still in the 100's, our motivation levels are still very, very low. But now that September is finally here, we can see the end in sight. School has started (not that it applies to us), women's Bible study is back in session, and we are headed to Myrtle Beach in two weeks! When we get back from the beach, Dick and Susan will be home from Indiana. A few thing have happened since August. Most exciting, Grammy Barbara came to visit.As you can see, I got bangs. Big news here. Our camera was out of batteries for about 3 weeks and nobody bothered to charge it, so we are short on pictures. In other news, we all got new glasses.

I guess the summer is making us all a little crazy.
Charlotte has learned to wave and to clap. She is such a happy baby and waves and claps all day long. Jack is a sweetheart too, and keeps us laughing. Last week he woke us up by spraying an entire bottle of sunscreen all over the house. Today when I picked him up from Sunday school, the teacher informed me that Jack took off all his clothes and ran around the playground in the nude. The teacher said that this was the first time that had happened in 25 years of teaching Sunday school. Well...as you can see we are coping and hoping for cooler weather.
